Project Brief:
In this project, we create a mobile app, AgriMatch, that creates equal access to opportunities in the agri-value chain by making it easy for farmers and middlemen to connect.
The main idea of AgriMatch is to reduce inequalities in Myanmar’s rice industry. Based on geolocation, AgriMatch empowers small-scale farmers as they can choose from several nearby middlemen who are verified trustworthy based on ratings. Moreover, AgriMatch functions as a collaboration platform, where farmers are enabled to team up to sell their crops and produce to middlemen – ultimately magnifying their bargaining power and strengthening local farming communities. Middlemen equally benefit from farmers selling collectively, as they can save time and transportation costs by buying more crops or produce in one go.
Supported Features:
For Farmers:
- Connect with individual farmers nearby through instant messaging or phone calling
- Connect with multiple farmers nearby through the group/community chat feature
- Rate middlemen who they have made dealings with
- Listed the crops which they want to sell
For Middlemen:
- Connect with individual farmers nearby through instant messaging or phone calling
- Receive sell orders from individual and/or groups of farmers nearby
- Rate farmers who they have made dealings with
- Listed the crops which they want to deal with
